The neck surgery can be carried out together with face surgery - facelifting , where the skin from the neck area is stretched together with the stretching of the skin in the face area. Neck surgery can also be carried out individually, without face surgery, when we drain fat from the area under the chin, or eventually we cut off the excessive skin in the area of the neck. The scar then remains under the chin. The surgery can be carried out under local anaesthesia, as an outpatient operation, or under general anaesthesia, as an inpatient operation requiring a one-day hospitalisation.

After the surgery, the patient either bandages the head over the neck, or an elastic mask is applied. This compression is kept for 10 days, so that the skin can heal onto the base. During this time, the patient abides by a state of rest and reduces forward bending; office work is possible as early as the 5th day after the surgery, but with a compression girdle around the head. The area under the neck is kept dry. The bandage or the mask can be removed by the patient on the 10th day after the surgery, as can the patch under the chin, and the neck can be washed. The stitches are absorbent, so there is no need to remove them. Physical strain and exercise are possible 3 weeks after the surgery.
