What is mini-abdominoplasty?

Lower abdominoplasty, or mini-abdominoplasty, is a gentle way to a flat tummy. It is a targeted procedure that gently but effectively restores the natural shape of the abdomen. Mini-abdominoplasty is a less invasive form of abdominal plastic surgery that focuses solely on removing excess skin and fat in the lower abdomen. Unlike traditional abdominoplasty, it does not involve the area above the belly button and does not require its repositioning. The procedure takes approximately 60–90 minutes.

Consultation with a doctor

  • Assessment of abdominal wall condition, skin elasticity and suitability of mini-abdominoplasty versus the full version
  • Proposal for an individual procedure.

Preoperative examination

  • ECG, blood tests
  • It is possible to undergo an examination at our clinic
  • Results must be no older than 30 days before the procedure
  • Inform the doctor about the medicines and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • Stable weight
  • Completed breastfeeding (in women)
  • 7 days before the procedure, discontinue blood thinners
  • 24 hours before the procedure, do not smoke
  • 12 hours before the operation, do not eat, drink alcohol or coffee

Procedure

  • Duration of the procedure: 60–90 minutes
  • Vertical incision only in the lower abdomen
  • Skin and fat are removed, there is no navel displacement
  • The resulting scar is small and hidden under the underwear.

After the procedure

  • The patient usually stays in the clinic for 1–2 days
  • Elastic bandage worn while sleeping
  • Instructions about post-operative care and scar care
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home – note that you will not be able to drive immediately after the procedure
  • The pain is mild, possibly suppressed by medication.

Follow-up

  • The first check-up usually takes place within 7–10 days, as agreed with the surgeon.
