  • Discontinue blood thinners 7 days before the procedure
  • Wear a hat for the first days after the procedure

  • Duration of the procedure: approx. 60 minutes
  • Local anaesthesia (general anaesthesia is possible in children) or analgosedation
  • Incision behind the ear, cartilage modelling, drawing the auricle to the head
  • Gentle suturing and sterile coverage

After the procedure

  • Putting on a compression headband
  • Rest at the clinic and subsequent discharge home

Follow-up

  • Stitches are removed after 7–10 days
  • The doctor monitors healing and symmetry

For the first 2 weeks after the procedure:

  • Wear an elastic headband all the time
  • Avoid physical exertion
  • Sleep on your back

For the first 4 weeks after the procedure:

  • Carefully observe hygiene
  • Heed the doctor’s recommendations

  • Acute infections in the ear or skin area
  • Blood clotting disorders
  • Overall poor health

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Bleeding, infections
  • Asymmetry or need for minor correction
