INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

What is septoplasty?

Septoplasty is an effective surgical solution to chronic nasal blockage and impaired breathing caused by a deviated nasal septum. Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated nasal septum (septum nasi). The aim of the surgery is to straighten it so that it runs down the middle plane of the nasal cavity and allows for freer breathing through the nose. The deviation of the septum can be caused by a congenital defect or as a result of an accident. During the procedure, the septum is not removed, but mobilised and sculpted – only what is absolutely necessary is resected. It is a tissue-sparing procedure that restores optimal anatomical and physiological conditions in the nose. In some cases, the procedure is supplemented by a turbinoplasty. The operation itself takes approximately 60 minutes and can be performed at the same time as the rhinoplasty.
