What is testicle replacement surgery?

Testicle replacement is the solution for men who want to restore the natural appearance and symmetry of the scrotum. Testicular replacement is a surgical procedure in which a silicone implant is inserted into the scrotum. It is used to restore the aesthetic appearance in the case of a missing or damaged testicle, whether after an injury, tumour or congenital defect. The implant has a natural shape and consistency and results in a natural appearance.

Consultation with a doctor

  • Anatomy and health assessment
  • We will discuss your wishes and physical disposition.

Preoperative examination

  • Blood tests and internal examinations (available at our clinic)
  • Scrotal sonography
  • The results must not be older than 30 days
  • Inform the doctor about any medications and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • 7 days before the procedure, discontinue blood thinners
  • 24 hrs before the procedure, do not smoke
  • 12 hrs before the operation, do not eat, drink alcohol or coffee
  •  Arrange for someone to accompany you and drive you home

Procedure

  • It takes about 60 minutes.
  • The implant is inserted into the scrotum through a small incision.
  • Fixing the implant with a little natural movement
  • The wound is sutured with absorbable or non-absorbable sutures

After the procedure

  • You usually stay in the clinic for 1 day.
  • The patient remains at rest, receives painkillers.
  • Sometimes a short-term drain (to drain fluid).

Follow-up

  • 7–10 days after the procedure, follow-up with the surgeon.
  • Stitches are self-absorbing

Long-term follow-up visits

  • Sonography examination once a year

Aftercare

Increased restrictions: 1–2 weeks of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

  • 7–10 days of rest
  • 7–10 days – sitting and lying with legs up
  • 1–2 months – limit sports, physical activity and swimming
  • Cooling the scrotal area
  • Keep the procedure area dry and clean
  • 4–6 weeks – avoid sexual intercourse

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for people:

  • Under 18 years of age
  • With acute infection
  • With a history of scrotal cancer
  • With a tendency towards poor scar healing (e.g. keloid scars)

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Bleeding
  • Swelling
  • Issues with wound healing
