INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

What is circumcision?

Circumcision is a simple surgical procedure that helps address both medical and aesthetic problems in the foreskin area. Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin, the skin covering the balanus, and sewing the skin to the edge of the penis below the balanus. The procedure is performed for a variety of reasons – most often for medical (e.g. phimosis, narrowing of the foreskin), hygienic, aesthetic or religious reasons. For men who suffer from phimosis or frequent inflammation, it is an effective solution with a quick recovery. The operation is short, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Circumcision can be done under local anaesthesia, when the nerve that innervates the entire penis is killed. The advantage is that the patient can go home immediately after the circumcision. If the patient wishes, it is of course possible to perform the circumcision under general anaesthesia.
