What is eyebrow transplantation?

Eyebrow transplantation is a gentle microsurgical procedure that helps you achieve symmetrical, thick and aesthetically shaped eyebrows – naturally and permanently. Eyebrow transplantation is a specialised procedure in which hair bulbs (grafts) are transferred from another part of the body – most commonly the nape of the neck – to the eyebrow area. The modern FUE technique is used, in which the grafts are removed and implanted individually without visible scarring. This method allows for precise selection of the direction of growth and angle of each hair and the result is natural and long-lasting.

Preparation before the procedure

  • Stabilised medical condition and absence of inflammation
  • 1 week before the procedure, abstain from alcohol, caffeine and nicotine
  • Limit the use of pain medication and products containing acetylsalicylic acid 1 week before the procedure

  • Duration of the procedure: 3–5 hours
  • It takes place under local anaesthesia
  • Collection of fine hair grafts from the nape of the neck, division into fine single hair grafts
  • Precision graft implantation

After the procedure

  • Mild swelling in the forehead and eyelids (subsides within 2–3 days)
  • First eyebrow wash after 48 hours
  • Without the need for hospitalisation
  • Resume normal activity within a few days

Follow-up

  • The first check-up usually takes place within 7–10 days, as agreed with the surgeon.

Long-term follow-up visits

  • The course of healing and the quality of the scar are evaluated, and additional treatment is suggested if necessary.

Moderate restrictions: 1–2 days of rest

Recommendations

Immediately after the procedure

  • 1–2 days of rest
  • Sleeping with the head elevated is recommended
  • Washing eyebrows from day 3 with mild soap/shampoo

One week after the procedure

  • Do not remove the scabs at the transplantation site immediately after the procedure; a week after the procedure, soak with water and lightly comb
  • Sports and sauna ideally no sooner than after 2–3 weeks

One month after the procedure

  • After 4 weeks – newly transplanted hairs grow like normal hair – they need to be trimmed
  • Visible growth of new eyebrows after 3–4 months
  • Final result in 9–12 months

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for people:

  • With insufficient donor area
  • With an active infection or skin disease in the face
  • With a serious chronic disease

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Mild swelling or redness at the implantation site
  • Mild tingling or stinging sensation
  • Rarely – infection, poor healing
