What is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover is a combination of plastic surgical procedures designed to help women restore firmness, shape and proportion to their bodies after childbirth. A comprehensive Mommy Makeover procedure most often includes an abdominoplasty (tummy surgery), breast reshaping or augmentation, and possibly liposuction. It is not one specific procedure, but a series of procedures that are usually performed in one operation. The procedure can take 3–6 hours depending on the extent. It is only appropriate after weight stabilisation and cessation of breastfeeding, and at least 6 months after delivery.

Consultation with a doctor

  • We will discuss your wishes and options based on consideration of your physical disposition
  • Proposal for the optimal combination of procedures
  • In the case of breast augmentation, we will jointly select the ideal type and size of the implant
  • After the consultation, you will receive a price calculation and possible dates of surgery

Preoperative examination

  • ECG, blood tests, sonographic or mammographic breast examination
  • It is possible to undergo an examination at our clinic
  • Results must be no older than 30 days before the procedure
  • Inform the doctor about the medicines and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • 7 days before the procedure, discontinue blood thinners
  • 24 hours before the procedure, do not smoke
  • 12 hours before the operation, do not eat, drink alcohol or coffee
  • Do not use body creams or perfumes on the day of the procedure
  • Stable weight is ideal.

Procedure

  • The procedure lasts 3–6 hours depending on the extent
  • Combination of abdominoplasty and selected breast surgery
  • If necessary, it can be combined with liposuction

After the procedure

  • The patient usually stays in the clinic for 2–3 days
  • An elastic bandage is applied to the abdomen
  • The breasts are protected by a tightening bra
  • Instructions about post-operative care and scar care
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home – you may not be able to drive immediately after the procedure.

Follow-up

  • A follow-up with the surgeon 7–10 days after the procedure
  • Stitches are usually not removed because they are absorbable

    • Regular check-ups once a year are recommended
