What is complex laser surgery of the soft palate and nose?

Comprehensive laser surgery of the soft palate and nose offers a modern and gentle solution to snoring and chronic nasal obstruction. This procedure combines laser uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP) with laser turbinoplasty. The goal is to eliminate snoring caused by vibration of the soft palate while improving nasal patency by reducing excess nasal mucosa. The procedure takes approximately 30–45 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia.

Increased restrictions: 1 week of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

  • Sore throat similar to tonsillitis lasting usually 5–7 days
  • Mild pain in the nose lasting usually 2–3 days
  • Avoid physical exertion and hot foods
  • Return to normal activities after one week

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for:

  • Persons with severe sleep apnoea
  • Persons with blood clotting disorders
  • Pregnant women

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Bleeding or infection
  • Persistent pain in the throat or nose
  • Temporary voice alteration
